Below you will find the exact procedure for getting a hair transplant in Istanbul, in 3 steps & 3 days*

*3 days/2 nights is a minimum for the hair transplant. You are welcome to stay longer than 3 days in Istanbul.

Step 01

The Hair Analysis

The first step is to send us photos of your hair: Back of head (donor area), front, top, and left and right sides.
Our doctors will use the photos to carry out a hair analysis and decide

  • Whether a hair transplant makes sense in principle in order to achieve a satisfying result?
  • Approximately how many grafts will be transplanted*
  • Which hair transplant method (Sapphire/DHI) should be used*
*Please note that the final decision will be made on site.

Step 02

The Preparation

Once you have decided on the hair transplant with IST-HAAR, let us know your preferred date. We will reserve this date for three days so that you have enough time to book your flight to Istanbul. As soon as you have sent us your flight ticket as confirmation, your hair transplant appointment will be fixed.
!NO PREPAYMENT!
The costs for the hair transplant will only be due at the clinic after you have passed a health check. 

  • No caffeinated drinks on the day of the hair transplant.
  • Please take clothes with you that do not have to be pulled over your head to get dressed (e.g., a button-down shirt, etc.).
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages for the last 10 days before the Treatment date.
  • You should abstain from nicotine 48 hours before the treatment.
  • Do not take any blood-thinning medication (e.g., aspirin) for 7 days before the procedure.
  • You should stop using Minoxidil one week before the hair transplant.
  • If you are using Regaine, you should stop it 14 days before the procedure.

Day 01

Preliminary Examination

  • Your VIP shuttle will be waiting at the airport in Istanbul for you.
  • It will take you directly to the clinic for your health check.
  • After passing the health check, the doctor will discuss the final details with you, answer any remaining questions, and draw* your new/natural hairline.
  • You will then be taken to your hotel in Taksim (the center of Istanbul), where you can enjoy the rest of the day in the beautiful metropolis of Istanbul.
  • *After the consultation with the doctor, the hairline will be removed so that you can enjoy a carefree day in Istanbul.

Day 02

The Hair Transplant

In the first step, your new hairline will be drawn in (again) by our doctor, after that you will receive the local anesthesia, which is actually the only slight pain, which you will feel for a moment. Everything after that will be completely pain-free.

In the second step, our specialists use the gentle FUE-technique to remove the hair follicles from the donor area and store them in the nutrient solution.

In the last step, the extracted hair follicles (in the nutrient solution) are transplanted into the recipient area, using the previously agreed method (Sapphire/DHI).

  • The entire hair transplant takes approximately 5-8 hours, depending on the technique used and the number of transplanted grafts.
  • There will be a short break after around 3 hours. During this break, you will receive a small meal for your refreshment, allowing our hair transplantation specialists to also rest for a moment.
  • Once the hair transplant has been completed, your driver will pick you up and bring you back to the hotel. Since a hair transplant is considered a minimally invasive procedure, an overnight stay in the hospital is not necessary.

Day 03

Follow-up Examination & 1st Hair Wash

  • The day after the hair transplant, you will be picked up from the hotel, by our shuttle, and taken to the follow-up examination and first hair wash.
  • Once that is finished, your shuttle will take you either back to the hotel or drive you directly to the airport (depending on your schedule).
  • Please note: If you are staying longer in Istanbul, there is - of course - the option of a second hair wash and another check-up, on the following day.
